In the world of Mixed Martial Arts there are many different ways to find out info when it comes to events that are coming up or even about your favorite fighters. You can pick up the UFC magazine or surf the web to look at websites for fighters, promotions, listen to blogs, pod casts, online shows and of course follow them on twitter.
One of the places you can and should go to is MMA Scraps Radio. I had an opportunity to talk with Travis, one of the show hosts, of the weekly online broadcast. MMA Scraps Radio got their start about a year ago after UFC 100 was held. Travis and Rich Pauley, owner of the MMA Scraps Radio website, got together to do a web based talk show about MMA events. The show got exposure from Yahoo! after an interview with fighter Pat Barry. Things then evolved and took a different turn for the show as Pat came aboard as a permanent co-host withTravis. This allowed fighters to come on the show and feel comfortable having another fighter there as part of the show where they could talk the fight game on the show and promote the fights they had coming up, talk about sponsor events, training or whatever topic may come up during their interviews. I asked Travis if there was a favorite guest that they’ve had on the show and he mentioned the Frank Mir interview. It came on the same day Frank found out he was going to be fighting Shane Carwin and it was a very candid interview which Travis said was great. I had to ask if there were any dream guests he’d like to but hasn’t yet gotten on MMA Scraps Radio. Travis brought up a couple….Georges St. Pierre & Frank Shamrock. So guys if your reading this, be sure to give Travis a shout and join him on the show!
MMAScraps Radio has a weekly online broadcast which is usually onSunday’s at 2pm PST/5pm EST. There are some times like this coming week where it will be on a different night but you can check out the schedule on the Official Website for MMA Scraps Radio. While you are on the site you can not only listen live to the show, but if you missed it you can download any of the previous shows via itunes or zune to your computer or mp3 player. You can also just listen toright there from the website. If you do get to listen to it livethere is a chat room you can participate in and even call them up and ask a question or join the discussion! There is a face book page for the show and they have a twitter account where you can follow them.Travis also encourages listeners to email him suggestions for the show or just to say hi.
One of the goals MMA Scraps Radio has is to bridge the gap between MMA fans and the fighters and they do a great job of doing that with their show, just like we try to do here on MMA Jacked. If you haven’t logged on yet to listen I would hope you take the time and give them a chance…I don’t think you will leave disappointed.
I would like to say thanks to Travis for taking the time to talk with me about the show so that I could share with you here. I know I am looking forward to more great shows from MMA Scraps Radio, maybe I’ll catch you in the chat room sometime. I’ll be back with you soon fight fans!!
